Tromma frá Kjarri
Taken
July 20, 2011 |
Sold
Sire:
Platon frá Sauðarkróki (first prize stallion) Tromma is a five gaited evaluated mare from Iceland, imported in 2005. She is eczema-free. She has many evaluated horses in her pedigree and traces back honor prize stallions Þattur frá Kirkjubær and Hrafn frá Holtsmula on her sire's side. As a riding horse, she is sensitive to the aids. She can be high energy and likes to go, especially toward home. She needs an intermediate to experienced rider but is not spooky on the trail. She does need a tune-up as she's had time off to have a foal. Tromma has four offspring, all of which have energy and clear supple gaits. Two of her daughters, Sveifla and Fiðla, are for sale on this web site under "untrained mares." Her 2005 daughter in Iceland, Trú frá Neðra-Seli, has earned an evaluation rating of 7.67 and has over 8 for conformation in subsequent evaluations.
Tromma's evaluation scores: Overall 7.76

Kveikja from Alfasaga
|
Kveikja from Alfasaga
Sire: Kjarnar fra Kjarnholtum I (first prize stallion)
Kveikja is a five gaited mare with lots of natural tolt and would likely be easy to train in pace, though she needs more training in self-carriage to find and maintain each gait cleanly.
She behaves well on the ground and is easy to catch, groom, trim, load and trailer. She had two months professional training in 2008 and goes well in the arena and on the trail,
but has not been ridden regularly since. She has energy under saddle and likes to go, and for that reason a confident rider is recommended.
She is of average height and is more of a refined build than some Icelandics,
but is plenty strong with good bone and quality hooves. She has had two foals with no difficulty and is a good mother.

Rekja from Curtis
Sire: Faldur frá Toftum (First prize stallion)
Rekja is a sturdy mare suitable for heavier riders. She is five gaited with lots of natural tolt
though she hasn't specifically been trained in gait.
She had two months professional training in 2008 and goes well in the arena and on the trail, has not been ridden regularly since.
She is an easy keeper, and is easy to catch, groom, trim, load and trailer. She also has good quality
hooves. |

Ferskja from
|
Ferskja from Whispering Oaks
Sire: Vakar frá Skarði (first prize stallion)
Ferskja is a well-started mare that has been ridden all over the ranch she lives on without incident. She is laid back, will do what is asked and is not spooky.
She
has been ridden by riders of all levels
including novices under supervision, but most likely not suitable for a
beginning rider unless that rider is receiving instruction. She is not a people-oriented mare but might warm up if she has her own person.
She has a smooth trot but tolt is not her first choice and would likely require professional training to bring it out.

Aradís from Lone Cedar
Sire: Forseti frá Vorsabæ II
Disa is an energetic little mare with a lot of talent in her gaits.
Three breeding judges have told me independently that she could evaluate over 8 for gaits and well above average in
conformation for a total score that would qualify her for "second prize." She is five gaited and capable of clear beat in trot and tolt,
but could use more training to keep the tolt clean and to develop the canter.
She has natural talent in pace as well.
Intermediate or better rider recommended- she is not a beginner's horse.
She has been ridden in dressage shows, an Icelandic show, and out on the trail alone, but prefers the company of other horses
and does very well in arena settings.
She is not a spook or a bolter, but can be a little reactive and needs a confident rider.
She is 12.3 hands tall and is current on worming, vaccinations, hoof
trims and dental. |

Tófa from Whispering Oaks
Taken 2011 |
Tófa from Whispering Oaks
Sire: Vífill frá Keldudal (first prize)
Tofa is a fun, energetic, brave and curious mare. She loves water and will stick her head right into the
faucet and she goes into ponds and creeks fine. She has been ridden three times a week through the summer and fall and does just about everything.
She is willing to please so very easy to train. She is likely four gaited, and though she doesn't choose tolt it could likely be trained by someone who understands gait.

Syn Ala frá Orien Acres
|
Syn Ala frá Orien Acres
Sire: Vakar frá Skarði (first prize stallion) This is an outgoing and friendly mare. She is primarily four gaited with a lovely tolt, trot and canter. It is possible she may develop pace, since her sire is four gaited and her dam is five gaited. She is respectful when boundaries are set but could be pushy if allowed. She is easy to catch and has no problem with leading, shots, worming or hoof trimming. Her hooves are excellent quality. Her owner measured her at 14 hands tall and she is very sturdy. Syn Ala was started under saddle with two months professional training in 2011. She was easy to train and goes well in the arena and on the trail, but would still be considered green broke. She is a quick learner, and is playful and fun to ride, but is also athletic and fast so will need a confident rider who isn't afraid of her energy and willingness.

Ísafold from Lone Cedar
Sire: Vífill frá Keldudal (first prize)
Ísa is a lovely, bold filly with promising gaits. She is five gaited and approximately 13.3
hands tall. Ísa was evaluated at age 3 by international
breeding judge Barbara Frische and received
very favorable marks. (Judging sheet available on request.) She was started under saddle summer 2011 and is doing very well. Short youtube videos showing her moving out:
http://www.youtube.com/user/theiceherd#p/u
Ísa has an excellent pedigree, tracing back to Hrafn frá
Holtsmúla, Höldur frá Brún, Ófeigur frá
Flugumýri and Þáttur frá Kirkjubæ. Her Sire is a 13.3 hand red dun first prize
stallion with scores of 8.18 for conformation
and 8.09 for riding. Overall score: 8.13
Her Dam is a lovely bay mare with easy tölt,
nice conformation and disposition. |

Hrísla from Red Hill
Sire: Svartbakur frá Hólum
Strongly built mare with good energy, but not too forward. She shows trot and tolt at liberty and is probably four-gaited.
This is a horse that is very people oriented, but will need a job to do. She is smart, confident and brave so will learn quickly, but will need a leader.
She was started under saddle summer 2011 and has learned the basics including stop, go, turn, and walk-trot/tolt transitions,
but will need more training to be a solid responsive riding horse. Has been out on the trail a few times alone and with another horse. She is currently 12.3 hands tall
and still has some filling out to do. |
